Warnock defeats Loeffler in GA

Rev Raphael Warnock was elected U.S. Senator from Georgia

Republican attacks on a Black minister’s sermons appear to have backfired in Georgia where Rev. Raphael Warnock has defeated Senator Kelly Loeffler in the special run off election.

Black voters, affluent, middle class and poor, came out to vote in historic numbers, according to the Associated Press, in both urban and rural areas of the Peach State.

Democrat Jon Ossoff has a razor thin 12,806 lead–out of 4.4 million votes cast– over Republican Senator David Purdue in the other Georgia runoff. The Associated Press says the Ossoff-Purdue race is too close to call. DecesionDeskHQ has called the race for Ossoff.

If Ossoff is the winner, Democrats will control the U.S. Senate. If Purdue wins, Republicans will control the Senate, 51-49.
