Democrats in the 13th District: Vote for Joshua Leinsdorf for Senate in the Primary

By Art Gallagher

Over the Memorial Day weekend I noticed that Sean Byrnes, the establishment candidate for State Senate in the 13th District Democratic Primary, has put up lawn signs to get people to vote for him on Tuesday, June 6.   Byrnes is being challenged for the nomination to compete with Republican Declan O’Scanlon in November by Joshua Leinsdorf of Atlantic Highlands.   The winner of the LD 13 Senate election will replace Senator Joe Kyrillos in the Senate.

Given that Byrnes is taking the primary challenge from Leinsdorf seriously, I thought I should too.  I invited Mr. Leinsdorf to sit with me for an interview.  He surprised me. I thought Leinsdorf was an attention seeking gadfly perennial candidate.  I found him to be a sincere, smart and thoughtful man who has common sense ideas on how to solve New Jersey’s many fiscal problems.  Win or lose, he wants to influence public policy. He claims that even his losing campaigns have made a difference.

Middletown Democrats: Write In Michael Morris for Township Committee

Congressman Frank Pallone and Michael “Middletown Mike” Morris

Middletown Democrats who are examining their sample ballots in preparation of voting in the primary on Tuesday, June 6 will notice that only one candidate, William E. Hutton, is on the ballot for two seats on the Township Committee.  This has led to a flurry of activity of potential candidates trying to get the twenty-six write-in votes necessary to qualify to be on the ballot in November.

As good a job as Republicans Deputy Mayor Stephanie Murray and Committeeman Tony Fiore are doing for the people of Middletown, it is just un-American to let Murray or Fiore go unchallenged for another term.

For over 10 years, Michael Morris, aka Middletown Mike, has been preaching that “Truth, Justice and the American Way is possible all at once here in Middletown, the Bayshore and the great State of New Jersey. Read the rest of this entry »

Activists take dissent in dangerous direction

By Congressman Chris Smith

Congressman Chris Smith

Who can argue that in 2017, we face an unprecedented number of seemingly insurmountable problems both domestic and international that require wise leadership and sustained problem solving by Congress, the president — and everyone of good will.

Perhaps as in no previous time, however, we live in the age of the perpetual campaign where truth and the common good too often take a back seat to political expediency and personal gain. Enabled by distortion, hyperbole, surface appeal argument and the 24-hour, seven days a week cable news cycle, the public is increasingly ill-served and resolving tough issues has become more elusive.

Guadagno: My plan would cut property taxes immediately

By Kim Guadagno Right on cue, hours after proposing a robust and bold plan to cut property taxes for the middle class in New Jersey, Phil Murphy and some in the media attacked my proposal. Sen Jennifer Beck: Sick leave reform is due, our property taxes depend on it | Opinion

By Jennifer Beck Ending egregious sick and vacation leave payouts is an effort that has been years in the making, but the overtaxed residents of New Jersey have waited long enough. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have introduced legislation that takes aim at these abuses, and we were even able to pass $15,000 sick… Read the rest of this entry »

Donald Trump’s son-in-law has a plan for reinventing the shopping mall | Mulshine

I took a walk around the local strip mall the other day. The only traffic was a guy in a muscle car doing burn-outs. In the old days, the cops would have been on him in a minute. But no one was there to notice him except for me. The parking lot was empty except for… Read the rest of this entry »

Radical National Dem Leaders Coming to Monmouth to Support Gopal

When he was Monmouth Democrat Chairman, Vin Gopal made no secret of his desire to turn Monmouth County into Essex and Hudson Counties south. Now that he is a candidate for State Senate, Gopal is embracing the radical alt-left leaders of the national Democratic Party and enlisting their support for his campaign.  DNC Chairman Tom Perez and Deputy Chair Keith Ellison will be in Asbury Park this afternoon to rally support for Gopal. Opinion: Heads They Win, Tails You Lose

Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff In 1866, Surrogate Gideon J. Tucker wrote that “[n]o man’s life, liberty or property are safe while the Legislature is in session.” Over a hundred years later, the New Jersey Legislature is doing its very best to keep Surrogate Tucker’s warning pertinent by once again advancing special-interest legislation that reaches for a new low… Read the rest of this entry »
