Investigation clears Asbury Park cops who arrested APP reporter during BLM protest

As police officers wrestled Gustavo Martinez Contreras to the ground while clearing out protesters in Asbury Park last month, newly released video shows he repeatedly tried to tell them “I’m a reporter” through his face mask.

Martinez Contreras, a reporter for the Asbury Park Press, was charged with failure to disperse — accusations that were later dropped.

Neptune stalker is free after sentencing

Wayde M. Delhagen, 25, of Wayside Road in Neptune Township,  was sentenced on Monday to 364 days in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution and five years probation for one county of burglary and four counts of stalking, according to an announcement by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Dalhagen had been locked up in Freehold since his arrest last June. He was released this week on time served and good behavior credits, according to a family member of one of his victims.

Autopsy: Long Branch Shooting Was A Suicide

The shooting death of June Huhn in Long Branch on Friday has been ruled a suicide by the Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office following an autopsy, according to Charles Webster, spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Physical Therapist in Manasquan Charged With Sexual Contact With Two Employees

Lukas I. DeLorenzo, 35, of Neptune Township, was charged yesterday with fourth degree Sexual Contact for illegally groping two employees under the guise of training them in physical therapy, according to an announcement by Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Monmouth County had 15% decline in opioid related deaths in 2019

There was a 15% decline in opioid related overdose deaths in 2019, according to a tweet by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

There was 167 overdose fatalities in the County in 2019, compared to 197 in 2018.

2 fatal shootings in Asbury Park

Officer Involved Shooting in one of the incidents.

Gun violence erupted on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning with two shootings that resulted in two reported deaths, according to a member of the law enforcement community.

The first incident, which involved an Asbury Park Police officer, occurred at around 10:30 p.m. at the area of 7th Ave and Webb St. The Attorney General’s Shooting Response Task Force is investigation this incident.
