Freeholders Reduce County Spending By $18.2 million

The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders will introduce their new budget to the public on Feb. 25 at the Monmouth County Library Eastern Branch in Shrewsbury and at 7 p.m. on March 24 at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters on Symmes Drive in Manalapan.  Both meetings start at 7 p.m.

The $469.85 million budget is $18.2 million less than last year’s, reduces the county tax levy to the 2010 level and reduces spending to the 2007 amount.  County property taxes are reduced by $4.9 million.

Storm leaves more than 1K without power, delays school in Monmouth, Ocean counties

Middletown MIS Director Charged with Tax Fraud

The Management Information Services Director of Middletown Township was indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury on Tuesday for failing to report income on his 2010-2014 returns, failing to disclose income outside of his Township employment and altering public records, according to an announcement by Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

The 14 count indictment against Todd W. Costello, 45, of Jackson, alleges that he failed to report over $500,000 in income and failed to pay $22,000 in New Jersey Income Taxes.

Middletown Porch Poacher Caught and Released

The Middletown Police department announced that they have arrested the women who was caught on video stealing a package from the porch of a Statesir Place home last week.

Lauren Miller, 51, of West Front Street in the Township was arrested this morning by Detectives Daniel Sullivan and Keith Hirschbein.  Miller was charged with three counts of theft, processed and released pending a court date.

Pair busted with $70K in stolen spices at Aberdeen storage facility

Two men were arrested after being caught with more than $70,000 in stolen spices at a northern Monmouth County storage facility, State Police said. Feds: ICE Agent Traded Green Cards For Cash And Sex

Newark– A federal grand jury indicted  a former ICE deportation officer today for accepting cash and sexual favors from undocumented immigrants in exchange  for  employment authorization documents, commonly called green cards, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.

Seven of the eight immigrants involved in the scheme resided in Monmouth County;  three lived in Red Bank, two lived in Tinton Falls, one lived in Red Bank and Ocean Township, and one resided in Long Branch.  The eighth undocumented immigrant resided in North Plainfield.
