Democrats want recounts in Eatontown and Howell

Democrats in Eatontown and Howell are hoping that recounts will overturn their narrow losses in municipal races for council seats, NJGlobe reports.

In Eatontown, Democrat Mariel S. Hufnagel, using the pronoun his, petitioned the court for a recount against Republicans Mark Regan Jr, an incumbent councilman, and James Corcoran. Hufnagel trails Regan by 10 votes, 3,228-3,218 in the unofficial count. Corcoran has 3,105 votes and Democrat Danielle Jones leads the field with 3,250 votes in the election for two seats on the Borough Council.

Howell Deputy Mayor seeks Lakewood Mayor’s help with park safety

Howell Deputy Mayor Evelyn O’ Donnell wrote to Lakewood Mayor Raymond Cole on Wednesday seeking his help in communicating the importance of adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols to his Township’s residents.

Howell closed its parks this week due to overcrowding and a lack of social distancing.

Senator Singer: Gopal is no friend of Howell

Senator Robert Singer, Howell’s Republican state Senator for many years, warned Howell voters against taking the text messages from the young Democrat freshman senator, Vin Gopal, seriously.


“Senator Gopal is an ambitious young man with misplaced priorities,” Senator Singer said. “Gopal’s district has the highest level of gun violence of all of Monmouth County and the smelliest dump in all of New Jersey.  The young senator should focus on his own district’s serious problems instead of lying to my constituents with text messages in support of his puppet, Mayor Theresa Berger.

Howell Police Break Up 300 person party

The Howell Police Department announced on Sunday evening that they are breaking up a “pop-up” party on Wilson Drive in the Ramtown section of the Township.

Police from Wall, Brick, Jackson, Freehold, Monmouth and Ocean County Sheriffs and the State Police have been called for assistance.

Howell GOP mayoral candidate proposes framework for high school graduations

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on every New Jersey resident. As such, I fully support all responsible measures necessary to protect our residents during the pandemic. That being said, we simply must advance solutions that allow for the safe re-opening of our state on a clear and more accelerated basis. Governor Murphy’s actions to date have been slow and ineffective; we lack crucial details about how and when we will get NJ back online. Among the many more disappointing aspects of the Governor’s response has been his decision to prohibit high school graduations. While we must protect against unmanaged large gatherings, there is no question we that can design safe and efficient solutions to allow for graduation ceremonies. Our high school seniors deserve this.

Toward that end, I am calling on the Governor to set up a state-wide task force of education and school business leaders to design Guidelines for Safe Graduation Ceremonies (“Guidelines”). While we have been given a glimmer of hope that there “may” be graduations in late July, we need to work hard now to ensure that this will become a reality and not an empty promise. Below is a suggested preliminary outline for the task force and certain items for consideration:
