The 18th annual Highlands St. Patrick’s Parade, scheduled for Saturday, March 21, has been postponed due to Governor Phil Murphy’s recommendation that events of 250+ people be cancelled.

Highlands Clamfest Celebrates 25 Years

HIGHLANDS, N.J. – Food and Music lovers will fill the streets at the Highlands Business Partnership’s 25th Annual Clam Fest from August 1st to August 4th at Huddy Park on Bay & Waterwitch Avenues. The famous Clam Fest is a four-day spectacular event featuring a 120’ seafood court serving the freshest food from many of Highlands’ restaurants and establishments including Lusty Lobster and Chilangos. Other festival favorites include the Lions Club Funnel Cakes, and the Highlands Fire Department BBQ tent. Admission and parking is free, and the event takes place rain or shine.

The 25th Annual Clam Fest will feature a Beer, Wine and Sangria Garden on the corner of Waterwitch and Bay Avenues. Big Mark’s Action Park Amusements will set up the midway with portions of Waterwitch and Bay Avenues closed to street traffic to accommodate the rides, games of chance, specialty vendors and the succulent food court. Every night is “Pay-One-Price Bracelet Night,” when visitors can enjoy the amusement rides all night for $30. Read the rest of this entry »

Highlands Businesses Holding Holiday Lights Contest

IMG_2185The Highlands Business Partnership is awarding cash prizes and gift certificates (BID Bucks) to borough residents who light up their homes for the 3rd Annual Holiday Lights Contest.

“This a a perfect way to show off community pride and light up the holiday season,” said HBP President Carla Cefalo-Braswell.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.  BID Bucks can be used at any Highlands establishment.

Judging will take place on Saturday, December 19 from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m.  The awards will be presented to the winners at their homes that evening.

Contestants have the option of having their addresses publicized.  Residents can register for the contest, which is free on charge, here.

Business groups join together to kick-off summer on the bayshore

Five Bayshore business groups and the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau joined together yesterday in Keyport to kick-off the Summer of 2014 on the Monmouth County Bayshore..Exit 117…the Gateway to the Jersey Shore.

Lt Governor Kim Guadagno, Congressman Frank Pallone, State Senator Joe Kyrillos, Keyport Mayor Harry Aumack were on hand as the Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, the Keyport Bayshore Business Copperative, the Hazlet Business Owners Association, the Atlantic Highlands Chamber of Commerce, the Highlands Business Partnership and the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau  joined together in cooperation for ceremonial ribbon cutting for the region’s summer tourist season.

Taste of Highlands #STTS

On Saturday afternoon June 22 from noon till five the Highlands Business Partnership and over 15 restaurants, including MMM advertisers Chilangos and Windansea, are serving scrumptious menu samples and delectable drinks as they kick off the official start of summer with their annual Taste of Highlands.

The event starts off at Huddy Park at the corner of Waterwitch Ave and Shore Drive where participants will be given a keepsake tote bag with directions to each establishment. Transportation between establishments will be provided for those who prefer to collect their calories rather than burn them off between stops.

That’s a lot of eating and drinking for $40 per person.

Tickets can be purchased online here, at one of the participating establishments, by calling 732-291-4713, or on Saturday until 2PM at Huddy Park.

Highlands St. Paddy’s Parade Will Honor First Responders

The Highlands Business Partnership’s 11th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is being dedicated to the borough’s first responders in appreciation for their heroic efforts during Superstorm Sandy.

HBP Vice President Jay Cosgrove of Bahrs Landing said, “We’re proud of our hometown heros,” as he announced that Rebecca Kane, Highlands first female Fire Chief and the borough’s Council President, as the parade’s Grand Marshall.  OEM Coordinator Dave Parker is the Deputy Grand Marshall. Highlands First Aid Captain Ray Vargas will be honored with the St. Brendan the Navigator Award.

The parade kickoff from Huddy Park on Saturday March 23 at 2PM.  100 marching units including the Henry Hudson Regional Marching Band and Cheerleaders, the Monmouth County Police & Fire Pipe & Drums, Pipe & Drums Corps from Ocean Middlesex, Union, Essex and Atlantic counties.  Old Bridge and Staten Islands Pipe and Drummers will also be marching.

There will be a special guest appearance of spectacular Irish dancers from the Daly Irish Dance School.

Chili Cook Off In Highlands on Sunday

300px-Pot-o-chiliThe Highlands Business Partnership is holding its first annual Chili Cook Off Sunday, February 24 from 3PM till 7PM at Off the Hook, 1 Navesink Ave (Rt 36) Highlands.

Proceeds of the the fundraiser will pay for the bagpipers for the Highlands’ 11th annual St. Patrick’s Parade on March 23rd.

Do you make great chili?  Click here for your registration form to enter the Chili Cook Off as either a professional or amateur.  Entries must be submitted at Off the Hook by 8PM on Friday the 22nd.

Love good chili?  For $25 you’ll get to sample the 24 contestants’ efforts, enjoy a cold one to wash it down and vote for the best professional’s and amateur’s chili.  The professional contest starts at 4PM.  The amateur contest starts at 5PM.
