Firefighters are still working Monday morning to contain a major forest fire in Ocean County that destroyed commercial buildings in Lakewood, damaged more than two dozens homes in neighboring Brick and left one firefighter critically injured.

Large brush fire closes portion of GSP in Ocean County

A Sunday afternoon brush fire in Lakewood has forced the closure of several miles of the Garden State Parkway near mile marker 89, authorities announced.

GSP, Middletown-Lincroft Road closures will impact traffic this weekend

Repairs on a Garden State Parkway bridge that was damaged in a traffic accident last November are expected to cause traffic delays in Middletown starting tomorrow morning, April 27 at 10 a.m. through 5 a.m. on Monday morning, April 30.

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority will be closing two northbound lanes on the GSP between exit 109 and exit 114 to make repairs on the bridge over Middletown-Lincroft Road in order to make permanent repairs to the structure.

Monmouth County will close Middletown-Lincroft Road (CR-50) between West Front Street and Nutswamp/Dwight Road starting at 10 a.m. on Friday.  One-way traffic for school only vehicles will be permitted on Friday afternoon from 2p.m.-4p.m.

Weather and progress permitting, Middletown-Lincroft Road will reopen on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. Read the rest of this entry »

Big Parkway exit project scaled back, but expanded Park and Ride lot only weeks away

Zipprich blames Republicans for his DUI becoming public

Red Bank Councilman likes to have it both ways

Zipprich arrestWhat do Ed McKenna and Ed Zipprich have in common besides the same first name and being Red Bank Democrats? They both have a record of driving the wrong way on the Garden State Parkway after consuming too much alcohol.

The Red Bank Police should put a DUI check on River Rd on Sunday afternoon as McKenna is holding a fundraiser for Zipprich and his running mates at his home from 4-6.  Red Bank Taxi and Red Bank Limo should make sure their drivers are on standby.  The State Police should increase patrols at Exit 109.
