Tracey Abby-White Elected To Chair Brookdale Community College Trustees

Tracey Abby-White

Tracey Abby-White was elected to lead the Brookdale Community College Board of Trustees for the 2019-2020 academic year at the Board’s annual reorganization meeting on November 27, according to an announcement by the college.

A resident of Atlantic Highlands, Abby-White has served on Brookdale’s Board for six years.  She is a former Atlantic Highlands Councilwoman and served for seven years on the Henry Hudson Regional Board of Education.  She began her career as a teacher in the Middletown school system before entering the corporate sector in finance and technology where she continues to excel. She replaces Dr. Carl Guzzo as Chairman.

Guzzo led the college through the difficult process of reform and reorganization after the scandal involving former president Peter Burnham.  He is credited with restoring stability to the college and positioning Brookdale for an exciting future serving the students and communities of Monmouth County.

Holmdel And Monmouth County Trade Land

Officials Say That Deal Will Enhance Recreation, Youth Sports, Open Space and Historic Preservation

The Township of Holmdel and the County of Monmouth have entered an administrative land trade deal, according to an announcement by Mayor Tom Critelli.

Holmdel will receive 13.8 acres of land that sits adjacent to Holmdel Park and across Crawford’s Corner Road from the entrance of Holmdel Township High School and the Holmdel Theatre Company in exchange for approximately 115 acres of Cross Farm Park land located to the southwest of Willowbrook Road, abutting Colts Neck Township.

Sheriff Golden, Freeholders, Call On Trenton To Stop Ripping Off 9-1-1 Fees

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden, Freeholder Director Tom Arnone and Deputy Director Lillian Burry were joined by a bi-partisan group of municipal elected officials, as well as public safety officers, at the County Public Safety Center in Freehold this morning where they called upon Governor Phil Murphy and the State Legislature to restore the $.90 monthly tax on every cell phone line to its intended purpose…the funding of New Jersey’s 192 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). Monmouth County Kicks Off Summer Tourism Season

Freeholder Pat Impreveduto, Deputy Freeholder Director Lillian Burry, Freeholder Gerry Scharfenberger, Deptuy Mayor Sue Kiley of Hazlet, County Clerk Christine Giodano Hanlon and Freeholder Director Tom Arnone celebrate the start of the summer tourism season.

Monmouth County officials gathered on the beach in Manasquan yesterday to kick off the summer tourism season during a festive press conference featuring Freeholder Director Tom Arnone, Manasquan Mayor Ed Donovan, Paul Wolf, manager of Leggett’s Sand Bar in Manasquan, Mary Brabazon, director of Belmar Tourism and Margaret Mass, director of the Red Bank Visitor Center.

In 2017, tourists spent $2.5 billion in Monmouth County on food, accommodations, recreation and entertainment, transportation and second homes, a $65 million increase over the amount spent in 2016.  6 million people per year visit the County. Read the rest of this entry »

Transcript: Curley called DiMaso a “Staten Island Guinea”

Disgraced Freeholder John P. Curley

The report prepared by retired Acting Supreme Court Justice Mary Catherine Cuff states that disgraced Freeholder John P. Curley referred to Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso as a “Staten Island Guinea,” according to the transcript of federal court proceedings Curley has brought against Monmouth County.  DiMaso was a Monmouth County Freeholder at the time that Curley said “that Staten Island guinea” and “I ought to stab her with my insulin pack.”

Staten Island is the New York City borough where DiMaso was raised. “Guinea” is a derisive ethnic slur that refers to people of Italian heritage. The slur is derived from “Guinea Negro” a term that referenced Blacks or people of mixed ancestry from Guinea, the African country in West Africa. The term is “the most vile” one can call an Italian, according to Urban Dictionary, and is used as a slur for Italians because of many of them have darker skin than Anglo Saxons/Germans, according to the Racial Slur Database. Monmouth County Freeholders Endorse Bob Hugin For U.S. Senate

The Monmouth County Republican Committee is holding a convention tonight, March 15, VFW Post 2179 on Rt 36 in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown.  The purpose of the convention is to endorse candidates for the United States Senate and for the House of Representatives in the 6th Congressional District.
