Happy March! We are just a few short weeks away
from Spring.
I want to start my article this week expressing my
fellow Commissioners and my strong opposition to the added components of the
legalized marijuana bill that was voted through last week. The majority of New
Jersey residents last fall voted in favor to legalize marijuana for use by
adults at least 21 years of age. There is no question, nor debate, on the
outcome of the ballot question.

It’s hard to believe it
is already January, but here we are. As we get deeper into the winter months, I
want to ensure our residents that the Monmouth County Department of Public
Works and Engineering has been preparing for inclement weather for months and
is ready to serve at a moment’s notice.
I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season! It’s
hard to believe the first day of winter is right around the corner when it
feels like we just celebrated the end of summer!
As liaison to the department of public works and
engineering, I want to ensure everyone that our employees have been preparing

I hope
everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving with their families! I would like to wish
everyone a happy and safe holiday season.
Speaking of the holiday
season, I want to remind everyone to shop and dine local. As part of the
County’s continuing effort to help small businesses, especially during the
COVID-19 pandemic, we have developed a new Made in Monmouth interactive
directory just in time for the holiday season.
I’d like to start by thanking all of the veterans who
have served our country. We should continue to recognize their sacrifices
throughout the entire year. It is because of their sacrifices we continue to
enjoy our freedoms. Let us also not forget the sacrifices made by their
families!
While I could say the last few weeks have been very busy, the truth of the matter is that the County stays busy around the year with ongoing projects and initiatives.
Earlier this month, I had the honor of joining Middletown
Mayor Tony Perry and the Middletown Committee, as well as, Congressman Chris
Smith at a press conference hosted by Middletown to launch their Economic
Relief Program to assist their small businesses impacted by COVID-19.
Well, it seems as if fall is now officially here! After a
hot summer season, these cooler temperatures are a nice relief! I hope everyone
is enjoying the season and picking the perfect pumpkins. I have been staying
busy and I would like to take some time to share what I have been up to around
Monmouth County.
I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful fall weather
this weekend.
I want to provide you with an update on the
COVID-19 situation in Monmouth County, as well as, the Monmouth County CARES
Act grant and the upcoming November General Election.

I would like to take the time to reflect upon and
recognize the 19th anniversary of the horrific terrorist attacks our nation
endured on September 11th, 2001. Though the years have passed, we will never
forget the lives and legacies of those who lost their lives or the first
responders who bravely did their jobs.
It is our duty to always remember the horrific
events that took place on that day, as well as, to never forget those we lost
and how that day changed our lives forever.
However, in order to never forget, our youth must be taught about 9/11
and the events that transpired that day and how it changed the course of
American history forever.
