Christopher J. Gramiccioni will soon drop the “Acting” from his title as Monmouth County Prosecutor.
The Senate Judiciary Committee approved Gramiccioni’s nomination yesterday despite opposition for the state PBA who made an issue of his hiring practices. The Senate is expected to confirm the prosecutor on August 1st.
A veteran of Chris Christie’s U.S. Attorney’s Office, Gramiccioni was the governor’s first choice to replace former prosecutor Luis Valentin. But he did not meet the constitutional residency requirements for the job and was hired as First Assistant Prosecutor in 2011. Once the residency requirements were met, Peter Warshaw, Valentin’s replacement on an acting basis, was nominated for a Superior Court judgeship and Gramiccioni took over the top law enforcement job in Monmouth County July 1, 2012.
Monmouth County Authorities are reminding the public of the county’s new Special Needs Registry, a voluntary program designed to assist first responders to be prepared to assist residents with physical or mental impairments who find themselves in an emergency situation.
Charles Webster, spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, told MMM that there was a large number of registrants when the program was launched in April by the Prosecutor, the Sheriff’s Office and the Chiefs of Police Association, but that as news of the program faded, so have registrations.

Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni will announce the results of the Internal Affiars review of the law enforcement response to the brutal slaying of Tamara Seidle by her ex-husband, then Neptune Township Sgt Phillip Seidle, on June 16, 2015 while the couple’s 7 year old daughter, and members of the Asbury Park and Neptune Township Police Departments, looked on, at a press conference in Freehold tomorrow morning.
The 22 year veteran of the Neptune Police Department pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and child endangerment on March 10. He is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Joseph W. Oxley in August.
Christopher D. Biello, 43, of Coe Place in Middletown, who also uses the alias Christopher Sherman, pleaded guilty to one count of second degree Theft by Deception, seven counts of third degree Theft by Deception, three counts of third degree Impersonation, four counts of third degree Bad Checks, two counts of third degree Theft, one count of fourth degree Forgery, one count of third degree Theft of Services, and one count of third degree Fraudulent Use of Credit Card in Judge Joseph W. Oxley’s Court on Friday, according to a statement by Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Biello admitted he deceived and impersonated clients, obtained numerous credit cards in his victims’ names, engaged in fraudulent loan attempts using the victims’ identities and forged documents.
HOWELL — A township husband and wife face 552 charges of animal cruelty after authorities found 276 dogs in their split-level home earlier this month. Toni Ann Marletta, the 50 year old women accused of killing Marissa Procopio, 15, of Atlantic Highlands, in a hit and run incident on Route 36 in Leonardo last July, had cocaine and alcohol in her system at the time of her arrest.
Danielle Procopio, Marissa’s mother, said that investigators from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Middletown Police Department shared the results of a toxicology report with her prior to Marletta’s indictment for leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a death, endangering the welfare of a child and other charges.
In an interview with MMM, Danielle said she is frustrated that Marletta is not being charged with vehicular homicide.
The “Acting” my soon get dropped from Christopher Gramiccioni’s title. Governor Chris Christie has nominated the Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor for a full term. If confirmed by the Democratic State Senate, Gramiccioni will have a five year term.
Gramiccioni, an alumni of Christie’s U.S. Attoney’s Office, joined the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in 2011 as First Assistant Prosecutor. He was promoted to Acting Prosecutor on July 1, 2012 after his predecessor, Peter Warshaw became a Superior Court Judge.
