She is only 7 years old from Manville, NJ, and already knows how to get things done. On June 7, Sadie Fleming was at Monmouth County’s Union Beach that Sunday morning with her family.
The Union Beach Borough is part of the Bayshore Regional Strategic Plan, recently undergoing an extensive restoration of its beach front due to the effects of hurricane Sandy. The beach offers a view of the New York City skyline and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
Walking along the beach with her mom, dad, and her sister, Sadie couldn’t help but notice how dirty it was. Sadie was visibly upset that adults weren’t being responsible with their trash and not throwing their litter in the garbage. She was concerned that all that trash would wind up in the ocean, potentially killing the fish and wildlife.

Assemblyman Rible continued, “While there are certainly bad characters in every profession, we must not denigrate all of our law enforcement officers. In our increasingly dangerous world, we should not be undermining our officers’ ability to properly protect us and themselves. Instead, we need to target the bad actors who created this dangerous situation in the first place.”

Governor Chris Christie reacted to the New Jersey Supreme Court decision that he has the authority to cut pension payments from the State Budget and that the political branches of government…the Governor and Legislature…not the Court…must “deal with one another to forge a solution to the tenuous financial status of New Jersey’s pension funding in a way that comports with the strictures of our constitution,” by calling for “all interested parties” to come together and solve the New Jersey’s pension and benefit crisis “once and for all.”
“This decision is an important victory not only for our taxpayers who simply cannot afford these unsustainably high costs, but for limited, constitutional government that recognizes the proper role of the executive and legislative branches of government,” the Governor said in a statement issued by his office, “The Court’s position is clear, as is mine, it is time to move forward and work together to find a tangible, long-term solution to make our pension system and public employee health benefit costs affordable and sustainable for generations to come. In light of today’s decision, I urge all interested parties to come back to the table and partner with me to finally solve this problem once and for all.”

The primary election is over and I want to extend my sincerest congratulations to all the candidates that won. Now as you prepare for November, I look forward to seeing positive campaigning over the next couple of months – let’s keep the focus on the issues concerning our constituents.
Voter turnout in Monmouth County was 2.9%, based on the number of eligible voters in the county. We need to improve this number! Your vote is your voice as an American citizen – you need to show up at the polls to have that voice heard. If you are unhappy with how things are being run in your municipality, our county and throughout the state of New Jersey, it is your duty to make a difference by voting. Our right to vote in the United States is a privilege that was granted to us hundreds of years ago by the founders of our great country. If we do not exercise our civic duty to vote, then we fail to create a government that epitomizes the voice of the people, and therefore we will not have representatives that reflect our opinions. So each vote is important, each vote counts.
