Obama caught between Iraq and a Myspace

By Ernesto Cullari

iPad’s are great. Like most Americans who own one, I use mine to check work and personal e-mails. You probably check sports scores, update your Facebook status and send out an occasional Tweet. But you and I wouldn’t dare to think that it takes the place of human relationships and personal interaction. But did you know that President Barack Obama uses his iPad to read the Top Secret President’s Daily Brief (PDB), rather than attend these critical and time sensitive meetings with seasoned intelligence officers in person? Despite the turmoil in the Middle East and elsewhere, author and investigative journalist Bob Woodward recently reported that President Obama does not “regularly attend security briefings”.

According to History.com, PDB’s are like a laundry list of sensitive intelligence matters, configured in order of importance. They are vital lists containing time sensitive data that are pertinent to both our imminent and long-term national security. Each morning the head of the CIA and other intelligence branches are to meet with the President, so that they can explicate in detail any development that would catch the Commander in Chief’s eye. In fact, every President since JFK has attended the President’s Daily Brief in person, with the exception of Barack Obama.

Marc Thiessen and the Government Accountability Institute report that Obama has attended only 38% of all PDB’s in the last 3 years and 9 months.

That’s right, the leader of the free world prefers what amounts to treating America’s national security like a social network, where he can simply log on and log off or change his status to “offline” when he doesn’t want to be bothered with defending the nation. Resorting to simply reading the brief rather than meet with its authors amounts to gross negligence and dereliction of duty.

On September 11th 2012, Al Qaeda operatives stormed the American Embassy in Benghazi, Libya. Terrorists then reportedly raped and murdered US Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens. Two former Navy Seals were also murdered in the terrorist attack. After the embassy was stormed, a black Al Qaeda flag replaced the American flag.

Immediately the Obama Administration said they had no advance warning of the attacks and they cited a “spontaneous response” to an obscure anti-Islam film made by an American, as the cause for both the September 11th attacks on the Libyan embassy and the attack on our embassy in Egypt.

The Obama Administration’s account amounts to a cover-up and is deserving of a full Senate and Congressional investigation. The UK Independent reports that the State Department was warned 48 hours in advance of the attacks. The Jerusalem Post reports that Egyptian intelligence had warned the US of impending attacks on American and Israeli embassies as early as September 4th. What is more, PJ Tatler reports that Marines guarding the Egyptian embassy were not allowed to carry live ammunition, a policy that effectually disarmed them.

While the man who takes credit for killing Osama is neglecting American national security, where is the American news media? Rather than hold Obama accountable for the worst national security blunder since the Iran Hostage Crisis, the biased liberal mainstream media remains complicit by carrying the anti-Islam videotape angle.

Where are our so-called political leaders, like Senator Bob Menendez and Congressman Frank Pallone?

I call on Senator Menendez to hold a Senate hearing to find out why our Marines are disarmed and why our Embassies are inadequately defended. Why are Marines guarding our Embassies with rubber bullets? Exactly how many Embassies are unguarded this way? I call on Congressman Frank Pallone to find out to what extent the President was briefed prior to the September 11th terrorist attacks in both Egypt and Libya. Americans have died and their untimely sacrifice demands honest answers.

New Jersey has an abundant Indian-American and American Pakistani population. How can they feel secure that America is an honest broker of peace, when the President neglects his national security duties?

Many of our communities have diverse American heritages with Jewish, Hindu, Christian and Muslim backgrounds. Further, we all have family members or friends that are serving in the Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Each of us has a stake in Freedom, Peace and Prosperity, but the President is habitually aloof, concerned more with appearing on David Letterman and partying at fundraisers with Jay Z, rather than attending the President’s Daily Brief. Neglecting national security is an unforgivable sin for any president and Obama is no exception.

God forbid that red phone should ring at 3am in the White House with a pressing national security issue, because Obama would likely have his iPhone set to“sleep” while his Democrat cohorts Menendez and Pallone, would likely have theirs set on “vibrate-only”. Americans can’t risk another 4-years of this brand of incautious foreign policy.

Either the Administration was too stupid to know what goes on (possible considering the Obummbler’s lack of attention to intel briefings) or they just didn’t care, or they lied to us.

I tend to believe it is the “all of the above” answer but, in any case, the Bummbler In Chief does not deserve re-election for this chaos alone.
