Kyrillos, Beck On Opposite Side Of Gas Tax Debate

Kean Beck KyrillosSenator Joe Kyrillos yesterday endorsed a $.23 per gallon increase in the New Jersey’s tax on gasoline in order to fund the Transportation Trust Fund for the next 10 years.  Proponents of the tax increase say the fund will only have money for debt service starting at the end of this month, if the state tax on gasoline remains at its current level of $.14 per gallon.

“In total, it is a productivity, prosperity and quality of life package for New Jersey, and very, very significant,” Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) said at a Statehouse news conference, according to NJ.com.

The gas tax increase legislation also reduces the estate tax and taxes on retirement income.

Senator Jennifer Beck, also a Monmouth County Republican, has been leading the fight against the gas tax increase.  Beck has proposed a combination of debt, economic growth, reductions in employee health benefits and the elimination of administrative redundancies to fund new infrastructure projects.  Beck is holding a rally at the Freehold Gulf Station on Stillwells Corner Road in Freehold at 5 p.m. this evening.  Today’s rally follows a similar rally in Tinton Falls last week.

No one has proposed legislation that would drive down New Jersey’s highest in the nation cost of building roads and bridges…$2 million per mile.

Feedback to Kyrillos can be called into his Middletown office at 732-671-3206. Beck’s Red Bank office can be reached at 732-933-1591.

I will never vote for someone that has voted to increase my taxes. Kyrillos is a scumbag. I will badmouth him every chance I get.

  2. Once a RINO, said at 7:01 pm on June 16th, 2016:

always a RINO? Am sick to death of their making hardworking taxpayers pay more on everything, to make up for these ridiculous, so-called “leaders'” never-ending habit of throwing more money onto bloated programs, and giveaways for votes, to those who lobby them, and those who don’t/ won’t work… Prediction: our already dismal percentage of elected “Republicans” in both the senate and assembly will decrease, in a blowout, in 2017…
