Hillsdale Road in Colts Neck to close December 4 for bridge replacement

The bridge over Big Brook on Hillsdale Road in Colts Neck is scheduled to close on December 4 as Monmouth County replaces the structure.  The work is expected to take until the end of June, 2018 to complete.

Motorists are advised to follow detour routes which will direct traffic along Crine Road, Boundary Road and Clover Hill Road.

“Due to the significant deterioration of the wooden substructure, the bridge needs to be replaced,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering. “The goal is to improve the overall safety of the traveling public in the area. Motorists should expect travel delays in the area throughout the bridge reconstruction project. We appreciate everyone’s patience during the duration of this necessary project.”

Attempts will be made to maintain access to the Big Brook Preserve throughout construction; however, construction activities may restrict or relocate available parking and access to the trails of the Preserve. Signage will be posted advising of any impacts to parking or trail access.

The work is being performed by Montana Construction of Lodi, NJ. The estimated cost of construction is $1,531,201.

Monmouth County maintains of approximately 1,000 lane miles of roads, 980 bridges and culverts and 250 traffic signals and beacons.
