20 Gun Control Measures Headed to the General Assembly Floor with Muted GOP Opposition

Twenty (20) new gun control measures made it through the Assembly’s Law & Public Safety Committee this afternoon, Save Jerseyans, all despite the spirited protests of hundreds of Second Amendment advocates who descended on the State House in force.
The most controversial? A-3664, a bill reducing maximum magazine capacity from 15 rounds to 10.
Republican committee members voted against most of the measures.
Assemblyman Sean Kean (R-Monmouth) was the exception; he supported several of the bills and did his best to claim the “common-sense” mantle in his post-hearing statement:

Today was an absolute disgrace. 1000 people show up to oppose this assault on our 2nd amendment rights and what do they do??? They pass the bills. EVERY tea party activist, republican and sane democrat should make it their business to primary every last one of those people, including Amy Handlin who was a no show!! Kudos to Allison McHose who was just about the only sane person on that side of the room. The rest were disrespectful and condescending to their constituents. I am absolutely repulsed by today’s events. Time to roll up our sleeves, people!
I must stand corrected on a part of my recent comment. Amy Handlin was not on that committee and that is why she wasn’t there. The other good news is that she took her name OFF of the bill calling for more gun free school zones. That is all I know at this time, but wanted to clarify and correct my error.
The Second Amendment was enacted to allow Americans to defend themselves from tyrannical government, whether from abroad. or from within.
There is an inherent right of not only self-defense, but also of a revolution by the people to protect their rights under the American Constitution.
Stripping law-abiding Americans of their constitutional rights does nothing to prevent gun violence, it only disarms those who would follow such unconstitutional legal assaults on our rights.
Any Republican legislator who supports limiting our freedoms, must be defeated at the polls. Enemies within are just as diabolical, if not more so, than enemies outside.
Governor Christie, are you listening?
of the ridiculous over-reaction to bad incidents. Worse, I don’t believe any of them check what laws are already on our books, and how better to enforce what we have, and whether this hodgepodge of self- promotion will really only make things worse, as ill-thought- out and emotion- based laws often do!
And, does anyone believe if it wasn’t an odd-numbered election year this would not be so intense and crazy? They should be ashamed of themselves for acting like everyone else: superficial and self-serving is ugly in a public servant. Scary fact is, most of them will be re-elected: time for term limits in NJ, they cannot and will not control themselves and stop, so we must stop them.
