65 of New Jersey’s 100 Safest Towns Have Republican Mayors

The National Council for Home Safety and Security released its annual list of New Jersey’s 100 Safest Cities this morning. MMM’s research into the list determined that 65 or the 100 towns have Republican mayors.  32 of the towns have Democrat mayors and 3 have Independent mayors.

NCHSS is a trade association comprised of home security professionals across the country that advocates for safe communities and home safety with a strong focus on community involvement.  They rated New Jersey town’s with populations greater than 10,000 for violent crimes per 1000 residents and property crimes per 1000 residents. The FBI’s Uniform Crime Report statistics and the organizations internal data and research were used to determine the rankings.

FDU Poll: New Jersey residents do not support full legalization of recreational marijuana

A strong majority of New Jersey residents, 68%, favor reforming the state’s law concerning marijuana use, but most, 53%, do not favor making the recreational use and sale of the drug legal, according to an FDU Public Mind Poll released this morning.

27% of the 810 NJ adults surveyed in the poll think NJ’s pot laws should stay as-is.  26% think weed use should be decriminalized.  42% favor full legalization. Read the rest of this entry »

Sheriff’s Officers Bust Two Drug Dealers, Seize 1200 Bags Of Heroin, 22 Grams of Coke And Cash

Two Monmouth County Sheriff’s Officers, with the assistance of the drug sniffing K-9 team, arrested two Monmouth County men during a traffic stop on the Garden State Parkway at exit 109 on Wednesday.  1200 bags of heroin, 22 grams of cocaine, $4500 in cash, and a 2014 Dodge pickup truck were seized during the arrest, according to an announcement, according to an announcement by Sheriff Shaun Golden.

Sheriff’s Officers Glenn Sonnaband and Jason Simeone arrested Daniel Torres, 47 of Long Branch, and Alexander Mazza, 46 of Eatontown, who were charged with two counts of possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances  and two counts of possession with intent to distribute CDS.  The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the FBI Red Bank Office participated in the arrests and investigation. Monmouth County Democrat Chairman David Brown responded to the news that indicted U.S. Senator Bob Menendez will face a second trial on federal corruption charges by endorsing the senator for reelection in November, according to a report at PoliticsDW.

“Whether it is fighting for progressive values or standing up to Donald Trump’s disastrous and economic and environmental policies, Senator Bob Menendez has had our side,” said David Brown, the Monmouth County Democratic Chairman.
