Christie booed mercilessly — twice — at the Haskell

assetContent (49)OCEANPORT — It was one long happy celebration at Monmouth Park for the great American Pharoah’s latest victory. At least, that is, until Gov. Chris Christie stepped into the Winner’s Circle to present the trophy. And then, the record crowd of 60,983 booed. Long. Loud. Sustained. Maybe he should have hung around Bill Murray. The cheering… Read the rest of this entry »

The 41st Monmouth County Fair was a huge success with thousands of residents attending over the five days it was held at the East Freehold Fairgrounds on Kozloski Road.

Monmouth County is the gateway to the Jersey Shore, and you will find more than 50 miles of beaches, revolutionary history sites, nationally recognized parks and golf courses, outdoor dining experiences for all tastes and plenty of places to spend the night.  The Monmouth Park System offers over 30 park areas to explore, please go out and enjoy all our beautiful county has to offer.

While we are on the topic of outdoor activities you can enjoy throughout our County, I would like to take a moment to address several concerns within different regions, including the Shark River dredging and the two-river area bike path.

Bush Makes Bank In Middletown

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush held a fundraiser for his 2016 Presidential Campaign at the Navesink Country Club in Middletown yesterday evening.

The Middletown Police were not called upon to provide security at the tax payers expense.

Bush raised “a lot more” than the $500,000 his campaign told the media was raised in Middletown and at a private dinner in Short Hills following the event.  A source familiar with the candidate’s New Jersey operation told MMM that the take in Middletown was $600,000 in “hard money” donated directly to his campaign plus “big money” to the Bush SuperPAC.

In a show of support to State Senator Joe Kyrillos, the first prominent New Jersey Republican to publicly break from Governor Chris Christie’s presidential quest and a Co-Chair of the Bush fundraising effort, Monmouth County’s Republican leadership, which helped Governor Chris Christie get elected twice and some of whom have publicly endorsed Christie for president were well represented, if camera shy, at the Middletown event, according to PolitickerNJ.

140 Teens Graduate From Sheriff Youth Week

Sheriff Youth WeekMonmouth County’s Sheriff Youth Week is no ordinary summer camp.

For one week each summer, Monmouth County high school students with an interest in law enforcement receive intensive and rigorous police academy type of training.

Last Friday, at the conclusion of this summer’s Sheriff Youth Week, Sheriff Shaun Golden presented 140 graduates certificates recognizing their successful completion of the program which is based out of the Monmouth County Police Academy and provides high school aged students a unique opportunity to explore interests in law enforcement through police academy style training, exercise programs and instructional sessions.

“I’m proud of the entire Sheriff Youth Week class for staying the course and commend them for completing this intensive week of law enforcement training,” said Golden. “The program provides the graduates with an opportunity to explore the realm of possibilities of a career in law enforcement.”

Each day began with drill and ended with exercise. During the week, the class learned about various law enforcement topics and agencies. An overview of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Division, the 9-1-1 Communications Division and the Monmouth County Correctional Division was provided.
