Marlboro Township Announces Strong Financial Results

Marlboro Mayor Jon Hornik

Marlboro Township’s AAA bond rating was reaffirmed by S&P Global Affairs and the Township received a “clean audit for the seventh year running,” Mayor Jonathan Hornik announced yesterday.

“I am pleased to once again announce that we have a clean audit for the seventh year running. While it has become almost routine for independent auditors to issue an unqualified opinion with respect to the Township’s financial statements, it still bears mentioning,” Hornik said.

What President Trump understands that Democrats don’t

Adam Geller, President of National Research, addresses Monmouth County Republicans.

As a practitioner of public opinion polling, I’ve studied, poked and analyzed opinions for more than 25 years. I’ve learned and grown to appreciate how fickle and malleable opinions can be. I’ve also come to understand through opinion research, why President Trump is playing a winning hand going into 2020 and why he is better positioned for victory than you might think.

Mr. Trump isn’t playing the opinion game. He is playing on a different field. He is playing on beliefs and values. And his opponents are all too happy to assist him.

Opinions can change, and they often do. Beliefs don’t change. We can change our opinion about a candidate, or a restaurant, or a TV series. But we don’t change our fundamental values. We don’t change our beliefs. Opinions are ephemeral. Beliefs are unwavering.

Sheriff Golden Kicks Off National Preparedness Month With Safety Tips

Monmouth County: Sheriff Shaun Golden is reinforcing the message to prepare, plan, stay informed and get involved as National Preparedness Month gets underway. National Preparedness Month, sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is an effort to educate the public on how to prepare for emergencies. This year’s National Preparedness theme is: Prepared Not Scared.

“The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with numerous agencies, prepares for emergencies such as natural disasters, active shooters, mass casualties and chemical threats throughout the year by conducting drills, training, tabletops exercises and educational programs,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden whose agency runs the Office of Emergency Management. “These types of training exercises are critical in ensuring that we can effectively and efficiently respond to crises situations. The Arnone Report: Back to School, Road Improvements and a great man honored in Belmar

By Monmouth County Freeholder Director Tom Arnone

Freeholder Director Tom Arnone

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend! A new school year is officially upon us and that means it is time to be extra cautious when driving around our communities!

It’s always important – and especially now that children are back in school – that everyone obeys speed limits, stops for pedestrians and avoids distractions when driving. It’s also important that pedestrians and children walking to school use crosswalks or cross at intersections and wait for the walk signal before stepping into the road.

As the school year begins, I will be sending notices to school districts once again to let them know I am always happy to meet with students of all ages to discuss civics and the role of county government. Last year I had the opportunity to meet with students in several towns throughout the county including Red Bank, Belmar, Eatontown, Long Branch, Tinton Falls and Asbury Park.
