Michael Clancy, left, will seek to replace Sean DiSomma, right, as Red Bank GOP Chairman
Red Bank Republican Chairman Sean DiSomma announced that he will not seek another term in the office this morning in an email to members of the borough’s Republican County Committee members.
DiSomma, 34, is widely credited with the GOP taking control of Red Bank’s governing body for the first time in 25 years, winning four of six council seats over three elections since 2013.
DiSomma cited his career and family obligations as his reason for stepping down.

Summer is finally upon on – the weather is cooperating and the first official day of summer is just around the corner.
So proud to have been at Asbury Park High School last week for the announcement of the partnership between the Asbury Park School District and Brookdale Community College for the Asbury Park-Brookdale Promise. This program targets all Asbury Park High School students and is designed to give them access to college readiness programs and scholarship opportunities in an effort to increase the number of students attending college. This will be achieved by granting scholarships to attend Brookdale to any of our students who have been enrolled at Asbury Park High School for all four years. This is a great accomplishment for the Asbury Park school district as this will enable more students to come closer to realizing their dreams of attending college.

Senator Joe Kyrillos yesterday endorsed a $.23 per gallon increase in the New Jersey’s tax on gasoline in order to fund the Transportation Trust Fund for the next 10 years. Proponents of the tax increase say the fund will only have money for debt service starting at the end of this month, if the state tax on gasoline remains at its current level of $.14 per gallon.
“In total, it is a productivity, prosperity and quality of life package for New Jersey, and very, very significant,” Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) said at a Statehouse news conference, according to NJ.com.
The gas tax increase legislation also reduces the estate tax and taxes on retirement income.

I first became a baseball fan back in 1969—a signature year for the New York Mets. And I’ve been talking to my children about the “Amazing Mets” since they were little. It has stuck with them.
My daughter Lauren went through a time where she watched all the games and got me back into watching regularly. My son Kyle has a real appreciation for baseball history and went to his first professional game before he was 10.
