Richard B. Thompson (News12 photo)
Richard B. Thompson, 62, of Middletown, received a curiously lenient deal from Monmouth County Prosecutors on Friday when he pleaded guilty to one count of fourth degree Falsifying Records.
As the Municipal Court Judge in nine Monmouth County towns, Thompson altered records of approximately 4000 traffic tickets, according to an announcement by Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni. In his scheme which occurred between January 2010 and the date of his suspension in October of 2015, Thompson converted fines for motor vehicle infractions to contempt of court penalties. He admitted that the purpose of the scheme was to enable towns that hired him to keep the money collected from wayward motorists rather than split it with Monmouth County, as required by state law. The scheme cost Monmouth County’s treasury more than $500,000. Read the rest of this entry »

Democratic Freeholder Candidate Lawrence Luttrell at the 2014 Four Seasons debate in Manalapan. photo by Rhoda Chodosh
Larry ‘The Lunger’ Luttrell , a Democrat lawyer from Holmdel, is running for Monmouth County Freeholder for the third time, according to report at InsiderNJ.
Luttrell earned the moniker The Lunger as a freeholder candidate in 2014. During a debate at the Four Seasons Club House in Manalapan, Luttrell jumped from his seat and lunged towards Freeholder Lillian Burry when she asked him, “Is your name Pinocchio?” in response to a comment he made distorting her record.
This year maybe we’ll call Luttrell The Masochist because he apparently likes to be beaten. In addition to losing his freeholder race to Burry in 2014, he lost to Serena DiMaso in 2013. He lost a bid to be elected to the Holmdel Township Committee in 2012 and again last year.
All those beatings earned Luttrell’s wife, Renee, a five year term on the Monmouth County Tax Board. Read the rest of this entry »

Freeholder Director Tom Arnone speaks at the NJTPA Board Meeting – Jan 22, 2018
I hope everyone is staying warm, happy and healthy this winter season. It sure has been a cold one but there is only a little more than 100 days until the unofficial start to the summer season!
In the meantime, I would like to provide some information stemming from our recent meeting of the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
During our last meeting, we unanimously approved a resolution allowing emergency repairs to be made to the Glimmer Glass Bridge on Brielle Road in Manasquan. The scope of this project includes the installation of additional timber piles, the installation of fiberglass jackets on piles and mechanical repairs among other miscellaneous repairs. This work is scheduled to be completed and the bridge reopened to traffic in time for the upcoming summer season. Read the rest of this entry »
