Kim Guadagno is still cutting red tape while she is feeding thousands

I got excited when I read the above headline and lede in yesterday’s NJ Chamber of Commerce’s daily Coronavirus and Economic Recovery Update.
The RAINE Foundation immediately occurred to me as an organization that could spring to action and support local businesses while feeding those struggling to put food on the table. In my mind I was thinking of other community organizations and restaurants that could participate.
My enthusiasm quickly dissipated when I clicked through to Business.NJ.Gov and read the fine print. There’s the usual hoops to jump through for government work–proving your entity is registered with the state and has no outstanding tax issues. But there’s one big obstacle that would probably knock my friends at RAINE, the Highlands Business Partnership, Middletown Helps Its Own and other non-profits from participating in the NJ Economic Development Authority’s grant program.
In an interview with Bill Spadea on NJ101.5 yesterday, former Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno said legalizing prostitution would be less harmful than legalizing recreational marijuana and that doing so would benefit the women who work in the world’s oldest profession.
“Now that I’m not running for office anymore, if they need revenue that badly, let’s legalize a victimless crime and tax it up the wazoo. What to I mean by that? Let’ legalize prostitution,” Guadagno said.
“It’s better for women cause they’ll get good medical care. We’ll cut off the middleman, if you know what I mean, and it’s between two consenting adults.”
Former Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno appeared on the Tommy G Show yesterday during which she said that the $2 billion in spending increases and $1.5 billion in new state taxes are insane but that no one should be surprised.
Guadagno said that moderate Democrats who are now calling for spending cuts “sound like Republicans, that’s what we’ve been saying all along!”

I recently launched a website about my native town of Monmouth Beach and it just so happens that a resident of that great community is running for Governor of New Jersey, Kim Guadagno.
So I thought I’d offer some local perspective on a state concern. I’m backing Kim on November 7 and it’s an easy vote for me.
I’ve known Kim since she first ran for political office in Monmouth Beach back 12 years ago. As I’ve followed her career, I’ve learned that Kim already has to be exceptional just to survive. She’s a Republican from New Jersey (a state that twice voted against Abraham Lincoln), is married to a seasoned judge (husband Mike recently retired from the NJ Superior Court) and is mother to three smart kids (some went to school with my children for a while).
In light of the recent vile and mean-spirited Star-Ledger editorial endorsement of Phil Murphy in the governor’s race, I’d like to offer the main reasons why Kim gets my vote: Read the rest of this entry »
It’s no wonder Phil Murphy won’t agree to be interviewed by NJTV’s Michael Aron or Tommy G. He’s weird. He doesn’t get New Jersey and he doesn’t understand state government.

Murphy came across as your drunk uncle who knows all the problems but changes the subject or gets combative when pressed on how he’ll actually pull off his magical plans.
Abbott Districts. This was a hairbrained idea created in 1985 by the New Jersey Supreme Court and defined in 1997 that determined that the Constitution required that each and every student in New Jersey must have an absolutely equal education. This wasn’t an issue of race or any other means by which we generally define the need for equal education. It was a determination that poorer school districts have less money to pay for education and therefore the State was required to assure that the poorer districts received state funding to equal the amount paid for education by local wealthier districts.
