Senator Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth) today sharply criticized Aberdeen Township’s taxpayer-funded distribution of flagrantly misleading information regarding the municipal record on taxes.

In July, Aberdeen’s governing body sent out a mailing to residents blatantly, and falsely, claiming that there was no increase in municipal taxes. The mailing blamed tax increases on schools, Monmouth County, and assessment methodologies.

“I’ve worked well and in good faith with Aberdeen during all my years in the legislature. Our good relationship makes my having to make this statement all the more difficult. But the Aberdeen administration failed its constituents on so many levels revolving around this demonstrably misleading, blatantly political, taxpayer-funded communication that I simply cannot let it stand,” said O’Scanlon

Old Bridge Man Charged In Aberdeen Shooting

Tenneyson D. Fairclough, 37, of Old Bridge, was arrested by Aberdeen Township Police on December 24 and charged with shooting a Somerset County man on December 23 outside the Masonic Lodge in the Township, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced.

Aberdeen Police responded to a report of shots fired at the Masonic Lodge at 9:53 p.m. on Thursday night.  Upon their arrival, officers did not find a victim. A local hospital later notified police that a male gunshot victim was being treated at their facility.  The victim was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was later released.

Rabid Pitbull May Have Infected Puppies, County Health Department Seeks Info On Cliffwood Pitbull Pups

Two of the four pit bulls that were in contact with the rabid dog that bit three people during the last three weeks in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen Township are lactating, which indicates that they may have may have passed on rabies to their puppies.  The Monmouth County Health Department is asking that anyone who may have acquired, purchased, adopted or come into contact with pit bull puppies in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen in the past three weeks contact them immediately.

Rabies confirmed in Aberdeen dog

UPDATE: Health Department Officials are looking for pitbull puppies bought or adopted in the last three weeks.  Anyone who has come in contact with a pit bull puppy from the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen is urged to call the Monmouth County Health Department at 732-432-7456 ext. 8580. After business hours, call 732-845-2004.

Monmouth County officials have confirmed that an Aberdeen dog that bit at least three people in the past three weeks tested positive for rabies.

MoreMonmouthMusings has confirmed that the dog, a 2 year old black male pit bull with a white neck, is from the County Road area of the Cliffwood section of the Township.  The dog was three feet tall and weighed 90 pounds.

The dog did not have a current rabies vaccination. The Monmouth County Health Department (MCHD) is urging area residents who may have been bitten by a dog in the past three weeks to contact the health department at 732-431-7456, ext. 8580 immediately.

Fire at Aberdeen warehouse remains under investigation

“Mayor Fred Taliarini said on facebook, “I just want you to know that our brave firefighters did a heck of a job last night at the US Mahogany factory on Lloyd Road. 22 year old man shot dead in Aberdeen

A twenty two year old Old Bridge man was shot to death last night in the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen Township.

William Henry Karecki’s death was first reported by his father, Ed Karecki, in the Monmouth County News Group on facebook.

Ed Karecki told The Asbury Park Press that “Billy” was shot nine times in his Ford Explorer in a parking lot off Ocean Boulevard, less than a mile from his home.

Charles Webster, spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, said that the Aberdeen Police Department responded to a 911 call at 9:44 p.m. on Sunday which reported a young deceased male in a parking lot near 2 Ocean Boulevard. Upon arrival patrols located and identified Billy Karecki who was obviously deceased.

No arrests have been made. The Prosecutor’s Office and the Aberdeeen Police Department are investigating.

Moody’s Investors Services downgraded Aberdeen’s $14.9 million in general obligation debt to A1 from Aa3, citing the Township’s seven year trend of balancing its budget by drawing down reserves and relying on one shot gimmicks.

The Township’s cash reserves were down to only $61,392 at the end of 2011.
