Statues are coming down everywhere because they represent people who fought for the confederacy, owned slaves or some other historical abomination. Names of buildings on campus are being changed, and one university, Stockton, has removed the bust of its namesake, Richard Stockton and is considering changing the name of the school because this signer of the Declaration of Independence owned slaves.
Since we are going down this road, we need to be consistent and I propose the following changes:
1. Gettysburg needs to be renamed. After all, James Gettys, the founder owned a slave. Henceforth, the Gettysburg Address should be known as the Adams County address, since John Adams didn’t own slaves. Read the rest of this entry »

We are a diverse county with people of all races and religions living together in harmony. These flyers do not reflect the reality of our communities.

Former Goldman Sachs banker Phil Murphy, the Democrat nominee for NJ Governor, promised to raise taxes on New Jersey citizens by $1.3 billion dollars if elected, according to an Observerreport.
Murphy’s law would reinstate the the McGreevey/Corzine era “millionaires tax” to raise $600 million. $300 million would come from taxing legalized marijuana. August 12, 1958 was a big day in my mother’s life. I don’t even remember it
I’ve intentionally stayed out the the raging debate over the terrible events in Virginia last weekend and the adequacy, or lack thereof, of President Trump’s response to them.
I consider most of the ranting, from both the left and the right, to be bullshit political posturing, or ass covering, that will make no positive difference at all in improving our quality of life. It won’t make a positive difference how we relate to people who don’t look like us, dress like us or talk like us. On the contrary, the raging narrative in the media seems to be increasing our divisions.
The best result, so far, of the current media narrative is that we are apparently no longer on the verge of nuclear war with the crazy fat kid in North Korea and the Russians are apparently no longer attempting to hijack our republic.
I’m inviting my little corner of the Internet to use the upset caused by recent events to create some love and harmony. I think its contagious.
Monmouth County Republican Chairman Shaun Golden issued a statement this morning congratulating newly elected Assemblyman Ned Thomson on his victory at the special election last evening and thanking all involved for a successful and orderly convention.
“Congratulations to Assemblyman Thomson. I personally thank Ned for his willingness to take on the rigors of being a legislator as well as the demanding community and political commitments the job requires. Ned doesn’t need to do this. I wholeheartedly welcome him to our leadership team. Read the rest of this entry »
