Christie to announce $200 million to fight opioid crisis
of twisting a story. Another way, would be to wonder if he now realizes grabbing that big pile of Medicaid funding, to basically balance his budget, has now created another burgeoning, overused entitlement that, like many others, he cannot sustain. Seems rather frightening to me, that he is now threatening confiscation of one of the state’s largest healthcare companies’ money. Better watch it, or soon we will be like those states that are down to one or two, much more expensive, providers! Then, what?? Is it the air, and/ or water, or what, here? There does not seem to be one area in which NJ acts smart, ever, for its citizens and taxpayers, at all!
Governor Christie has gone rogue. His second term can be counted as a failed administration, among the likes of Corzine, McGreevey, Florio, Cornbury and others.
Midterm elections for assembly set the Republicans back about 35 years. A narcissistic run for President failed to get off the ground, so he hitched himself to the Trump train. Christie hoped this would land him a Cabinet post, possibly Attorney General. All looked rosy for that when Trump named him as chief of the Transition team. Many Republicans in NJ hoped a Christie appointment in the Administration would mean his resignation and the accession of Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno to the governorship, allowing her to mend fences and rebuild the bridges burnt by Christie. These hopes were quickly dashed when Christie was replaced as transition chief by Mike Pence. Still, many hoped the governor would get some job in DC, just so we could be rid of him here.
When it became obvious the Trump Administration would have none of Christie, he went rogue, essentially governing as a Democratic governor. His epic gas tax hike soon occurred, with most Republicans in the Legislature in opposition. Shortly thereafter Christie spoke to union members, right here in Monmouth County, urging them to vote out those who opposed his tax hike (Republicans). Now we have him attempting a government take over, a nationalization of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, something you would expect more in Venezuela than New Jersey. Some of Speaker Prieto’s comments sound almost to the right of the governor!
In his tantrum, Christie is governing as a Democratic governor. He has always promoted himself as a guy who tells it like it is; he now needs to man up and declare himself as a Democrat and get it overwith.
It is comforting that we still have people in NJ who get it and don’t mind explaining the sad truth!
Yes, don’t forget about his state takeover of Atlantic City! He’s got a personal vendetta against Republican Mayor Don Guardian, but it goes much deeper than that. Christie is in thick and heavy with the Norcross gang on this. This is not in any way, shape or form a civic minded move to reform city government, or bring transparency and efficiency for the city’s residents. This is a chess move by the Norcross machine to take over a major city in our state. It’s all about the $$$$$$$.
Christie has been chummy with the Norcross/Sweeney crowd for years, much more than would be necessary to simply advance his agenda. This is not good for New Jersey, and it’s not good for the Republican Party.
NJ Republican Party? The past seven years of self- promotion, quick-fixes, and subterfuge have resulted and will result in more GOP losses, up and down this state: if fate was with us, the gov would pack it in early, get his face and narrative off the state GOP website, and let Raia and whomever ” leaders” are left in the state committee, county chairs, and legislators try to stand for something, and start rowing in the same direction! Not doing so bodes very poorly for us this year, and in the foreseeable future!
