A short film about pooping in Monmouth County

A short film about #2 is destined to be #1 at the first annual Boardwalk Film Festival in Asbury Park and Ocean Grove this weekend.

House Brokenwritten, produced and co-starring Heather Brittain O’Scanlon is a short film about a couple struggling to potty train their reluctant 4-year old, and the strain that puts on their marriage and social lives.

Filmed in Little Silver, House Broken made its festival premiere this past April at the Garden State Film Festival in Atlantic City.  Since then the relatable film has screened at multiple festivals, including CayFilm, WorldFest Houston and the Long Island International Film Expo, collecting nominations and awards along the way.

Andy Peeke co-stars in the film which was directed by Beth Spitalny. Real life siblings Taleen McOmber (8) and Ara McOmber, (4), of Little Silver star as O’Scanlon and Peeke’s children.

House Broken shares a film block with the feature film Sugar, written by Leora Kalish, directed by Shari Berman, and starring Tony Award winning actor Alice Ripley (“Next to Normal”, “Side Show”) and Robert Clohessy (“Boardwalk Empire”, “Blue Bloods”).  “Sugar” will be making its New Jersey premiere this weekend and O’Scanlon is looking forward to welcoming the “Sugar” film team to Monmouth County. “There is so much talent involved with that project – I’m excited to see it – and honored to be screening together!”

House Broken and Sugar are playing Saturday night, September 17, at the Jersey Shore Arts Center, 66 South Main Street, Ocean Grove, from 7:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. You can buy tickets and add the event to your calendar here.
